I REMEMBER HER WITH JOY

by - January 31, 2023

For us, for the simple citizens who are still on this earth, she left us very soon and our hearts were broken into a thousand pieces, but I am completely certain, that she is now in a much better place than ours. My grandmother's faith was extraordinarily great and she could overcome any obstacle that life threw at her, just with that simple but powerful word: FAITH. Faith in God and in eternal life. I wish I had only half of that special gift.

In her last years, diseases such as cancer, diabetes and severe cognitive impairment tried unsuccessfully to attempt her life, but she always believed that the main thing was God's will and not that of men. She didn't even believe in her own will. Until her last breath, she deposited her strength in the God she loved with the hope that what was to come was much more glorious than earthly life. She endorsed that word of the apostle Paul who said that living was Christ and dying is gain (Philippians 1:21) and based on that peace that comes from heaven, she lived her last days here among us.

I had that privilege of being able to take care of her those last years (with the good things and with the bad things) and I will always think that since she left, this house is missing something. There is a void that no one can or will ever fill.
After a year of her departure, I can only say THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all the things she has done in my life, even when I didn't deserve them. For her enormous love for all the members of our family and for all the things she did that people don't know about. My grandmother Verónica was an exemplary person, a worthy citizen of Argentina and a very dear neighbor in our community. Everyone here loved her, respected her and admired her. No matter where she was, she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

She taught me a multitude of things including the value of nature and the love of agriculture.
She taught me to care for and cultivate my first plants.
She taught me all the customs and traditions of our ancestors in Yugoslavia/Serbia.

She taught me the importance of having a good education and that the best time was the one that one invested in the curiosity of knowing a little more.
She taught me to enjoy the little things in life without giving much importance to material goods.

She taught me that God's love was greater than anything in the world and that without Him, nothing makes sense.

PSALM 22 (23)

"The Lord is m y shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores m y soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord to the end of my days."
